Hey guys, i just recently coded my car and found it pretty easy to do since i got the hang of it, i initially coded it from SMG to 6MT, and now i've messed with NCS Dummy in the GM5 and the LSZ modules, i'm really happy with how easy it was to make my car a tiny bit more unique but i'm still curious to what other interesting. I'm using NCS Dummy trying to update my new battery. The battery is a 90 AGM battery (the old battery was not an AGM battery). I have E65 entered in the 'chassis' dialog box and PM.C05 entered in the 'module' dialog box. Coding, General, Software 2019 SP-Daten, 2020 SP-Daten, V67 SP Daten Leave a comment. Find K+DCAN & Enet Cables and the Bmw Software you need all in one place. With some background knowledge, NCS Expert can be used to change a wide variety of ECU settings, in technical terms simply code them. NCS for Dummies simplifies the use of NCS Expert. Classic way (E-Models)
Preface
With the classic toolset for BMW (Ediabas and Co.) some useful things can be done. From coding to the error memory and flashing the individual control units. Unfortunately the software to be used is for the most part not freely available or is very expensive. Therefore it can usually only be obtained illegally. In addition, some expert knowledge is necessary, which must be obtained before. Either an ICOM (recommended) or a classic OBD cable with ELM327 chipset is required.
Compatibility
- 1 Series (E81, E82, E87, E88)
- 3 Series (E36, E46, E90, E91, E92, E93)
- 5 Series (E39, E60, E61, E63, E64)
- 7 Series (E38, E65, E66)
- X1, X3, X5 and X6 (E53 E84, E83, E70, E71, E72)
- Z4 (E85, E89)
For older vehicle models an OBD2 to OBD1 20 PIN adapter may be necessary.
Ediabas
Ediabas serves as an interface between the OBD adapter or ICOM and the individual programs for coding your BMW, reading error memories, and more. This software library is used to interpret or create the *.GRP and *.PRG data for transmitting to the OBD adapter.
Tool32 (EDIABAS ToolSet 32)
Tool32 or EDIABAS ToolSet 32 is an swiss army knife. It can be used to read the fault memory of individual control units, reset the service and carry out individual functions of the control units (training the battery, configuring new injectors, calibrating the steering angle, testing the speedometer, and so on). You can also use it to code your BMW.
For example, you can re-program the fuel consumption indicator (KVA) into an oil temperature indicator. For instructions see here (German)
NCS Expert
With some background knowledge, NCS Expert can be used to change a wide variety of ECU settings, in technical terms simply code them.
NCS Dummy
NCS for Dummies simplifies the use of NCS Expert.

INPA
With INPA you can retrieve the fault memory of your car and also display individual parameters from the control units. For example the battery voltage, engine speed, intake temperature, oil temperature and much more.
WinKFP
You need WinKPF to change and replace (flash) the firmware of your ECUs. Usually only all ECUs in the vehicle can be flashed to the same “level” version. With this tool you can change each ECU for yourself.
For flashing you should use an ICOM. But an ICOM is very expensive (middle 3-digit amount).
Important! Flashing an ECU should not be done with a 0/8/15 OBD adapter. In the worst case you have to replace the ECU or have a specialist flash it directly over the PCB to rescue it.
Classic way (F-/G-Models)
Preface
For the F models, the toolset for coding, reading error memories and flashing has changed. An ICOM can still be used, but the classic OBD adapters no longer work. Instead you need a so-called E-NET cable. Almost the entire E-model toolset can be replaced by E-Sys. But Ediabas still pulls the strings in the background.
Compatibility
- 1 Series (F20, F21)
- 3 Series (F30, F31, F35)
- 5 Series (F10, F11, F18, F07)
- 7 Series (F01, F02, G11, G12)
- X1, X3, X5 and X6 (F48, F25, F15, F16)
Ediabas
Ediabas again serves as an intermediary between the E-NET cable or the ICOM and the individual programs for coding your BMW, reading fault memories, and so on. Ediabas must be reconfigured to run in E-NET mode.
E-Sys
For the F models, there is now a new swiss army knife. This allows the vehicle to be coded, the vehicle order to be changed, the fault memory to be retrieved and the individual control units to be flashed.
Modern way
Ncs Dummy User Manual
Preface
With this alternative way you can do many things completely without “stolen” software. Everything conveniently via an Android / iOS app for small budget. But the functionality is a bit more limited. The most important features like coding, reading the error memory and displaying the current motor parameters are possible with the E, F and G models.
Carly für BMW
With the App Carly for BMW you can do almost everything that is possible with the classic toolset.
For that you need a suitable OBD adapter on one side, which works either via cable, Bluetooth or WLAN. You should use the original OBD adapters for Carly made by Ivini-Tech.
